Chisago City License Bureau (DMV)

Chisago City's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is located adjacent to Chisago City Hall within the same building.  They currently accept Mastercard, VISA and Discover card.  There is a 2.45% convenience fee charged to the customer.

 What services do you provide?

The Chisago City DMV provides the following services:
  • Driver's license renewals, duplicates, and name/address changes. 
  • Motor vehicle registration tabs, license plates, title transfers, duplicate titles, and trailer licenses.
  • ATV, boat, and snowmobile licenses.
  • Passport photos.
  • Hunting and fishing license.

 Do I need to bring identification to get a hunting or fishing license?

Chisago City DMV has been approved as an Electronic License System (ELS) Agent of the DNR and can issue hunting and fishing licenses.  ELS requires that Minnesota residents furnish a driver's license number, public safety identification number, or DNR firearms safety training number as proof of residency.  Minnesota residents who do not have one of these identification numbers must obtain one before purchasing a hunting, fishing or other license.  More information on hunting and fishing licenses is found on the MN DNR's website.

 Do you administer written or road tests?

Neither written nor road tests are administered at the Chisago City office. 

 

Written Tests are given at the Lindstrom Exam Station which is located at the Lindstrom Community Center, 13292 Sylvan Ave. Written Class D tests need to be scheduled, tests are done the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 10:00am-11:15am.  The Commercial (CLD), Motorcycle and DWI written tests can be taken on a walk in first come service as space is available. 

Road Test  are given on Tuesdays and must be scheduled.
