Our Financing Programs

Financing programs available to businesses include the following:
  • Tax Abatement.  Both Chisago City and Chisago County are very aggressive with tax abatement.  City and County taxes can be abated for up to ten years if the benefit to the County equals the abated tax amount.  Preference is given to manufacturing, distribution, high tech, and professional skilled labor.
  • Tax Increment Financing (TIF).  TIF uses the increase in property taxes resulting from new business development to finance qualifying public improvement costs related to the development.  Improvements include such items as extension of water and sewer service, roads, and landscaping.
  • Revolving Loan Program.  The USDA Rural Development has available low interest loans for essential repairs for residents of Chisago County.  Low income families in greater Minnesota may obtain low interest rate loans and grants for repairs and home improvements.  For more information on these loans and grants, visit our Permits, Forms & Maps webpage or contact the USDA Rural Development by visiting www.rurdev.usda.gov.
  • $5,000 Business Loans.  Are you a business is Chisago City looking to spruce up your curb appeal?  Contact City Administrator, John Pechman, about a loan to improve the façade of your building.
